About Ben Hinton
Ben Hinton resides just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with his wife, the love of his life, and their two amazing daughters, Brielle and Charlie. At 38 years old, he is, first and foremost, a follower of Jesus. He is also a devoted husband, father, runner, and so much more.
In 2013, as a young adult, Ben sustained a traumatic brain injury after falling down a flight of stairs while home alone. His fiancée—now his wife—found him when she returned home. By God’s grace, he survived. Looking back, what seemed like the worst day of his life became the best day, as it was God’s way of leading him where he was truly meant to be. Before his injury, Ben spent 26 years trying to take God where he wanted to go. He didn’t know what he didn’t know. Now, he is more aligned with his purpose than ever before—ironically, despite the severe damage his injury caused to his balance system.
Just eight weeks after his brain injury, Ben ran his first half marathon, and he has been running on purpose ever since. His journey of running through adversity has been a spiritual experience, guiding him through the wilderness. As he often says, “I would rather take the long way than the wrong way in this journey.” As an athlete, he competes at a high level so that every race can serve as a victory lap for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, spreading the good news along the way. He firmly believes that people are not broken—they just need healing. Through his running, speaking, and daily life, he hopes to demonstrate that truth to others.
